WCDFW Presents Sandra Shpilberg, Author of Best-seller: New Startup Mindset
Join a discussion with entrepreneur and author of the bestselling book New Startup Mindset, Sandra Shpilberg (WG02). Shpilberg tackles the startup myths that constrain entrepreneurs and shares her success story of starting, building and exiting her digital health startup, all while not following the Silicon Valley formula, and not being the formula.
She shares her success story of starting, building, and exiting her digital health startup and provides readers with sage insights and practical tools to follow this approach. Her book is simultaneously a needed dose of reality and a large serving of inspiration for those who want to create something from nothing – especially for those who think they might not fit the mold.
Sandra Shpilberg is the founder and CEO of Seeker Health, a leading digital patient-finding platform and the author of New Startup Mindset. In 2015, Shpilberg founded Seeker Health to bring efficiency to the process of finding patients to accelerate the development of treatments for serious diseases. The company grew rapidly to serve sixty-plus biotechnology companies, connect millions of patients with serious diseases to clinical trials, and achieve profitability. In September 2018, a life science services conglomerate acquired her company.
In her bestselling book, Shpilberg shows that Silicon Valley’s startup formula—a few young male cofounders attempting to build a unicorn funded by venture capital—is a broken system that puts excessive emphasis on hype and improbable outsized outcomes, disregards real results such as revenue and profit, and promotes limiting beliefs for the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Prior to this successful entrepreneurial pursuit, Shpilberg held executive roles at biopharmaceutical companies. She has an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurial management from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and is an immigrant from Uruguay.
