The Wharton and Northwestern Alumni Clubs are pleased to invite DFW Alumni and club guests to our first career-focused event of the year. The Event is a panel discussion and networking reception focused on developing your career and preparing for executive and management roles.

This event is ideal for those seeking board opportunities and/or preparing for the next step in their career, as well as current job seekers in this up economy.



The panelists are four leading DFW-based Executive Search Consultants who hire for senior roles across multiple industries (healthcare, technology, finance, etc.) and career-levels (c-suite, VP, and senior executives).

Discussion will center on important topics facing alumni as they take their careers to the next level, including:

  • How executive search consultants identify the best candidates for senior and c-level positions

  • How to position yourself and your professional profile to attract the attention of top search consultants
  • Role of Corporate Board Memberships in Corporate & Community settings

An experienced veteran of the retained executive search business, Stephen Konstans has spent more than 20 years helping companies secure candidates for critical executive roles. He has special expertise in filling high-level finance and accounting positions such as chief financial officer or controller. Relying on the expert judgment that comes with experience, he brings to each engagement a deep knowledge of accounting, finance and general business, along with a powerful network of contacts, a strong work ethic and the intuitive people skills to effectively evaluate candidates and serve clients.

Prior to joining Pearson Partners in 2005, Stephen spent over three years running his own executive search and consulting practice. Building on an early career in auditing with both Arthur Andersen and KPMG, he entered the recruitment field in 1990 by joining Robert Half International, where he twice was ranked among the top 15 recruiters worldwide for accounting and financial professionals—including being ranked No. 1 in the world for one quarter. He later worked his way up at D. E. Foster Partners, Inc., the successor firm to KPMG’s executive search practice, where he began as a senior consultant and was ultimately promoted to the director level.

Stephen serves on the advisory board for the Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance and is president of the Trinity Christian Academy Alumni Association Board. He previously served on the boards of Executives In Action and the SMU Business Associate Program, where he was named Mentor of the Year.

Stephen is a former Certified Public Accountant. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Southern Methodist University and has continued graduate studies at The University of Texas at Dallas.
He spends his free time teaching Sunday school and spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Mr. Lachenauer has more than 20 years of executive search experience and is an active member of the firm’s CEO, Board Services and Technology practices.

Mr. Lachenauer has completed several hundred CEO, executive and board director search assignments. He has assisted clients at companies ranging from the Fortune 100 to early-stage venture capital-backed startups, in technology and technology-related industries in all regions of the world.
Prior to joining Korn Ferry, Mr. Lachenauer was a senior partner with another leading international executive search firm. His experience includes leading a sector practice in the technology sector and serving as a country manager in an international office.

Before his career in executive search, Mr. Lachenauer enjoyed a broad set of experiences. He began his career with IBM and later joined a private equity firm, serving as CEO of one of the portfolio companies. Just prior to beginning in executive search, Mr. Lachenauer helped grow and ultimately sold an early-stage wireless technology company.

Mr. Lachenauer presents in a variety of forums on topics ranging from the war for talent to board governance.

Mr. Lachenauer is a graduate of Northwestern University with a B.A. in economics and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He served as a founding director of OCTANE (a non-for-profit business launch pad that has helped create hundreds of companies and thousands of jobs), founding director of an independent Catholic grade school and as a member of the religion committee of an independent Catholic high school.

Margaret Base is an executive search consultant in Witt/Kieffer’s Healthcare practice. Margaret supports Witt/Kieffer’s national Healthcare team in conducting searches for CEOs, CFOs, CNOs, COOs, and many other executive roles within hospitals, health systems, integrated delivery networks, and other organizations.

Based in Dallas, Margaret has over 20 years of executive search experience that has included tenure with two F500 companies, an early-stage private-equity healthcare services start-up, and boutique executive search firms. Margaret’s most notable experience was her six years with Tenet Healthcare, an investor-owned hospital system with more than 50 facilities in 11 states. As Managing Director of Executive Search, Margaret led an internal team that recruited 75+ executives on an annual basis, focusing on Tenet’s hospital C-suite and corporate leadership, as well as roles within the system’s performance management and innovation team.

Margaret is a hands-on professional who supports client searches at both a tactical and strategic level. Her work is defined by a collaborative spirit, sense of urgency, and quality and thoroughness. Beyond executive search, she also supports clients in their succession planning, talent evaluation, facilitating offer negotiation with candidates, and leader on-boarding. Margaret is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
